Last Friday students competed in the interhouse Pyramid of Cans charity drive. An annual highlight on the School’s calendar, every House builds a structure using cans of food which are then donated to charity.

Each year the cans are donated to Anglicare, for use in the Magdalene Centre in the city. The Magdalene Centre operate a range of anti-poverty services in Adelaide with the aim of supporting people to regain control of their lives. The Magdalene Centre assists with housing advice, legal and financial issues, counselling and emergency relief.

The School’s close relationship with the Magdalene Centre goes back decades with students and staff volunteering as well as making donations.

A record number of cans were donated with a small truck filled at the conclusion of the event. School & Allen House donated over 300 cans replicating the 12 Apostles landmark, demonstrating the seven remaining apostles paired with the slogan “Eroding hunger one Apostle at a time.”
