Stan Grant: Rex J Lipman Fellow Presentation

Posted 18 August 2023
Whole School

It was an honour and privilege to host journalist, author and adventurer Stan Grant, as our Rex J Lipman Fellow on Wednesday 16 August.

Across the day Stan captivated audiences at Senior School Muster and Junior School Assembly and engaged in intimate sessions with groups including students of our Reconciliation Action Program and Year 6 leaders.

During Assembly Stan emphasised the importance of storytelling, encouraging our students to “learn and tell the story of each other… to tell a story that makes us a stronger country.”

Many compelling messages were shared with our Senior School students underscoring both our collective and individual responsibility to shape the world we live in by being a better self, a better community and a better nation.

In the evening Stan presented to the wider Adelaide community through a public lecture followed by an insightful Q&A session with Headmaster Tim Browning. Throughout the address Stan’s grace, warmth, empathy and intellect shone through whilst covering difficult issues of racism and hatred. It was an exceptional evening of teaching and learning that was acknowledged by long applause and a standing ovation.

You catch watch Stan’s public lecture and the Headmaster’s Q&A here.

We thank the late Dr Rex J Lipman AO ED OLH ONM (YNG 1937) for leaving a lasting legacy as benefactor of the Lipman Fellows Program that brings the world’s best thinkers and leaders like Stan to our School. We also thank the Lipman Family for their ongoing support of the program.
