On Friday 11 May a number of classes visited the Royal Flying Doctor Service simulator, which was based at the School for a day. Students were given a guided tour of the inside of the simulator of a fitted-out plane, which carries sick and injured people from outback Australia to major cities for important and often critical medical treatment. They were able to see first-hand some of the medial equipment which is kept on each plane and how it helps to treat people before they reach a hospital for further treatment. Undoubtedly the highlight was sitting in the pilot’s seat and using the controls.

In addition to the simulator display, School & Allen boarders used the opportunity to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service by hosting a sausage sizzle at lunch time. The RFDS simulator gave all students an opportunity to get hands on and see how this fantastic service operates in providing a critical service in regional South Australia.
