We were blessed with a perfect day for the Senior School Athletics Carnival in Week 9. I congratulate all Middle Years students for their exceptional participation in the day, and the way in which they represented their respective Houses. I’d like to thank all Heads of House for their work organising students for events, and for the superb way they engage the Year 7 and 8 students as participants in 7-12 House activities. The Middle Years students have fully embraced the House system and it is wonderful to observe them interacting so positively with the senior students. Thank you as always to Mr Laurie Humphreys for running such a well-organised carnival, and the grounds team who had the Caterer and Wilson Ovals looking magnificent.
A reminder that the Summer Sport season begins at the beginning of Term 4. Students will receive information from their coaches detailing exactly when and where their season commences. Training will begin in Week 1. I wish all students the best of luck for their sports in Term 4 and encourage them to be great competitors who practice exceptional sportsmanship at all times.
Term 3 finished on a very positive note with all Middle Years students involved in an Electives Day. There were some fabulous activities for the boys to participate in including mushroom foraging, a water extravaganza, invasion games, introductions to rowing and the gym, martial arts and brownie baking. The day was a great reward for the students’ hard work throughout Term 3. Thank you to all staff who ran activities for the boys on this day.
Our Year 7 Co-Educational Day in Week 10 provided an excellent opportunity for our Year 7 students to spend a day of learning and socialising with the Year 7 students from St Peter’s Girls’ and Walford. Students rotated through ten short activities that focused on social skills and respectful relationships. Thank you to our team of Year 7 mentors who facilitated the day along with a number of staff from the girls’ schools.
Term 4 commences on Tuesday 16 October. Boys are required to return to school wearing Summer Uniform. It is a relatively short term of just eight weeks, culminating with the Years 7-11 Speech Day. I hope the upcoming holiday period provides for you an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on October 16.
Mr James Tamblyn
