This week the ELC boys proudly shared a snapshot of their learning throughout the year at the ELC Celebration of Christmas. During the past few weeks, boys and educators busily rehearsed and prepared in readiness for what was for many boys, their first opportunity to perform to an audience. The boys’ artwork adorned the stage and provided an eye-catching backdrop. The audience was welcomed in Kaurna, each group singing Niina Marni Welcome before a heart-warming rendition of Felice Navidad, with body percussion thanks to the expertise of our Music Teacher, Katie Carey.
We were delighted to share our work with Author-in-residence Phil Cummings, Rita Rhyme at Christmas Time, celebrating the boys’ knowledge of rhyme and their skills as illustrators. A highlight of the celebration was the drumming extravaganza and 67 boys singing and pa-rum-pa-pum-pum-ing. It was spectacular and the result of the expert tutelage and arrangement by Simon Varga with support from ELC old scholars, Charlie Tonkin and Yiorgos Coutsoumbes (Year 6).
ELC Teacher, Anne Cowan leaves us next week to join the team at Kings Baptist Grammar School Early Learners. On behalf of the ELC communities past and present, our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Anne for her contribution, commitment, dedication, and passion for the care and education of our youngest students throughout the past 20 years.
Wishing you all a joyous Christmas and happy New Year.
