Congratulations to Cameron Huefner (Year 12) for being awarded a basketball scholarship to Pittsburg State University, Kansas in the US.

Cameron arrived at Saints in Year 7 and quickly established himself as one of the top players in his age group. In 2015 he was the only Year 8 basketball player selected to represent our Year 8 and 9 cohort in the bi-yearly tournament against Shore Grammar, our brother school in Sydney.

After being awarded the Middle As Most Valuable Player in 2016, Cameron took a big leap forward in 2017, attaining the rare feat of making the Saints Open 1st Team as a Year 10 and helping to lead the team to the State Tournament. Cameron continued from strength to strength in Year 11 where he was named the Open 1st Team’s Best and Fairest Player and participated in his first Amateur Athletics Union Tournament in the United States, attracting attention from numerous American colleges.

This year Cameron was voted as Captain of Saints Open 1st Team and has been selected in the Norwood Basketball Clubs Premier League Team. He recently returned from Houston after participating in his second US basketball tour and decided to commit to Pittsburg State University, where he will play four years of college basketball while studying a degree in psychology, physiotherapy or arts.
