2017 Year 12 results and top academic achievers

Congratulations to the top academic achievers from our 2017 Year 12 cohort. We are delighted to share the combined results for our Year 12s, including students studying both the SACE and IB.

Congratulations to both Isaac Tennant and Andrew Zhang who share the Young Exhibition for the Dux of the School. Andrew (pictured left) studied the SACE, also achieved a score of 99.85 and was awarded four Merits. Isaac (pictured right) studied the IB, achieved an ATAR of 99.85 and was awarded five Merits.

Median ATAR
The School’s median ATAR for 2017 is 90.10.

Overall results

  • Four students achieved an ATAR of 99.85: Christopher Burton, Atacan Ertugrul, Isaac Tennant and Andrew Zhang
  • 75 merits were achieved, for a maximum possible score in an individual subject
  • 14 (11%) students gained an ATAR of 99 and above
  • 23 (17%) students gained an ATAR of 98 and above
  • 46 (35%) students gained an ATAR of 95 and above
  • 67 (50%) students gained an ATAR of 90 and above
  • 98 (74%) students gained an ATAR of 80 and above

We are delighted that 50 percent of Saints’ students achieved an ATAR of 90 and above. As the ATAR is a ranking of students, it places half our students in the top 10 percent of Year 12 students nationwide.

IB Diploma
Twenty-nine students undertook the IB Diploma in 2016-2017 and more than a third achieved forty or more points out of a possible 45. Isaac Tennant was the top student gaining 44 points, resulting in an ATAR of 99.85; Reuben Symon gained 43 points, resulting in an ATAR of 99.70; followed by Oliver Marshall, Daniel Munro and William Proudman all on 42 points, with an ATAR of 99.40.

The average score out of a possible 45 was 35.3, equating to a median ATAR of 93.45. Thirty-eight Merits were awarded to students who achieved a perfect score of 7.

SACE
102 students complete the SACE in 2017 and the median ATAR is 88.75. Our boys obtained 37 merits for a perfect score in a subject.

Our three top achievers received an ATAR of 99.85 – Christopher Burton (including four merits), Atacan Ertugrul (with two merits) and Andrew Zhang (including four merits). Caleb Bem earned an ATAR of 99.8 (with two merits); two students received an ATAR of 99.75; Tristan Hall (with three merits) and Deon Mai (with three merits). Laurie Brown earned an ATAR of 99.4 (two Mertis), Daniel Binks an ATAR of 99.3 (two merits) and Casey Voss received 99.05.
